Car accident lawyer Puyallup

On our website, Sears Injury Law has spoken multiple times on the topic of semi-truck accidents. Bus accidents are similar to semi-truck accidents because they involve huge, heavy vehicles. However, while semi-trucks usually only have one or two people in them, buses transport people and can have dozens of passengers. This means that when a bus accident occurs, many people can be injured. Even worse is a school bus accident because school buses primarily transport children. Regardless of who is at fault for the accident, innocent victims can be injured.

Unfortunately, that is exactly what happened on Tuesday, March 4th, 2025. At around 7:22 in the morning, Pierce County police received reports of a driver in a gold sedan that was speeding. Officers were dispatched to the area in South Hill where the driver was. The driver of the sedan tried to pass a school bus and ended up slamming into a white SUV at a high speed. A plume of smoke went up. The crash happened near the corner of 122nd Avenue East and 170th Street East. The front of the sedan was completely crushed in the crash. The SUV was also damaged, but not as severely as the sedan. The two cars came to a stop on the right-hand side of the road.

The at-fault driver of the gold sedan suffered fatal injuries in the accident and was pronounced dead at the scene. He had been pushed to the back seat of the vehicle, and witnesses stood back. Although his airbags deployed in the crash, it wasn’t enough to save him. A woman was in the SUV that got crashed into, and she was seriously injured. She stayed in the car, and one of the witnesses called her husband. When he arrived, he gathered his wife’s belongings from the vehicle. The female victim was transported to the hospital for treatment of her injuries. She is expected to recover, but it is not known whether or not she has been discharged from the hospital yet. Thankfully, none of the children on the bus were injured. Although passing the bus led to the accident, the bus was not hit.

While debris was being cleared from the road and an investigation was taking place, 122nd Avenue East was closed from 160th Street East, stretching to 176th Street East. Over an hour after the accident, at 8:37 a.m., the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department made a social media post regarding the situation. They posted an image of the accident scene and warned drivers that they should avoid the area and take alternative routes. The road was shut down for several hours and then was reopened again later that same day.

Unfortunately, car accidents seem to happen frequently in this area. People who live along 122nd Avenue East said that drivers often neglect to drive safely. Several weeks before the accident discussed in this article, there was another accident on 122nd Avenue East. Thankfully, nobody was seriously injured. However, it appears to be a common occurrence that people driving on this road ignore the speed limit and drive way too fast. Tuesday the 4th’s fatal accident should serve as a warning and remind drivers to slow down. People speed because of impatience, for the thrill, or because they are in a hurry. But it simply is not worth it. Speeding puts the driver and everyone else on the road in danger.

Car accident Injury LAW FIRM WA

Although this case was not a bus accident, it could have easily become one. The good news is that you are far more likely to get into an accident in a car or truck than on a bus. They are about ten times safer than automobile travel. However, just because buses are safer overall doesn’t mean that they never get into accidents. Millions of people in Washington depend on private and public buses for transportation. A “bus” refers to a large vehicle that transports multiple passengers for a fee. This includes urban and rural public buses, such as King County Metro, Valley Transit, etc., private bus lines, school buses, tour buses, and shuttle buses.

Bus accidents can occur in many ways, making it essential for drivers to be experienced and skilled in handling these large vehicles. Bus accidents can be caused by speeding, distracted driving, mechanical failures, hazardous road conditions, bad weather, and driving under the influence. Certain factors increase the likelihood of bus accidents compared to car accidents, including passenger distractions, poor bus maintenance, and other drivers’ unfamiliarity with sharing the road with buses. Bus accidents are most likely to happen in the winter. Older buses are more likely to be in accidents involving death or serious injury than newer buses.

However, the accident that happened on March 4th was caused primarily by reckless behavior and speeding. It’s common knowledge that driving too fast can cause accidents. However, that doesn’t stop people from doing it. Washington law states that drivers have a duty to not drive at dangerous speeds for the road conditions. If there are potential hazards, such icy roads, then drivers should slow down below the speed limit to be safe. This is to prevent collisions from happening.

Lawyers have to prove that the at-fault driver was speeding too fast for the conditions. This can include witness accounts and physical evidence such as dash cam footage, skid marks, and more. The state of the vehicles after the accident can also prove how fast they were going. Not only do personal injury lawyers have to prove that the driver was speeding, but they also have to prove that the speeding led to the victim’s injuries. If you were injured in an auto accident caused by another driver, it’s important that you have a personal injury lawyer building your case.
